Wk. 7 – Artist Conversation – Juliana Bustillo

Juliana was born in Long Beach where she attended Wilson High School and is currently a drawing and painting major at CSULB.  Once she receives her degree, she is also planning on attending grad school.  She first discovered her artistic abilities when she was younger, and people also used to tell her that she had good artistic abilities.

The art she created for this show was based a lot on doodling.  It is called the doodle the mindless act, where the conscious-state is undue and the focal is highly performed.  It is meant to allow performance between the creator and the created.  I think that this means that she is allowing herself to be connected with the work that she is creating by not thinking and just doing what feel right or just happens in the moment.  For this piece of art she created geometric shapes  to create something banal, yet very significant.
